Jazzy Dope
It’s easy to understand if it’s happened to you. It’s easy to laugh if you know nothing. If you’ve never felt too much for something that wasn’t worth a damn.

Jazzy Dope — Julián Díez — is a figurative painter, writer and muralist from Madrid whose work is built on a premise as simple as it is radical: painting as an excuse to tell stories. His own. The ones that weigh on him, draw him in and burn him.
Rooted in graffiti — from which he inherits his artistic name — and nourished by comics, advertising and popular culture, Jazzy Dope builds a markedly autobiographical body of work where text and image are inseparable. Each painting is a frozen moment, a fragment of life inhabited by characters made of his blood, his bones and his ideas. His technique is deliberately raw and layered: oil, spray, solvent, pencil and pen, frequently all at once.
For the collector, Jazzy Dope represents something the art market values more and more: a completely original voice with a narrative so powerful that his works are impossible to forget. His exhibition pace — solo shows, international fairs, residencies across Europe and America — and his SUMMA Prize at JUSTMAD26 trace an ascending trajectory that can still be joined from the very beginning.
