About us

Blacklight Art Gallery was born from the reunion of Susana Do Santos and Elena Blasco Romero, friends, classmates and graduates in Fine Arts who, 30 years after finishing their studies, have joined paths again to build together a project centered on art and contemporary creation.

Based in Valencia, Blacklight develops a program specialized in contemporary figuration, understood not as a closed language but as a territory from which to explore new ways of representing reality.

We work with artists of different generations and origins, both internationally established and emerging, building a program in which different techniques, imaginaries and ways of understanding the figure coexist. We are particularly interested in what happens when the recognizable shifts: when a body, an identity, an archetype, an image or a tradition stop occupying the place we expect and take on new meaning.

Our curatorial line starts from close attention to technique and artistic research, but also to what makes a work transcend its own image: identity, emotion, fiction, gender, memory or contemporary imaginaries.

We continuously research the international art scene to discover new voices and generate dialogues between artists, cultures, generations and visual languages. We are especially interested in accompanying creators who, through figuration, find personal ways to question, transform or expand the way we look.

For us, a gallery is not only an exhibition space but a place of encounter. A space where works can establish connections with one another and where visitors can discover new perspectives, even starting from images that feel familiar to them.

For Our Collectors

We believe that building a collection is also building a personal relationship with art. That is why we offer close, personalized guidance, both to those acquiring their first original artwork and to collectors with an established trajectory.

We select each work from a curatorial criterion, looking for pieces with which it is possible to establish a lasting bond and that can acquire new readings over time. Our goal is to accompany each collector in building their own collection, coherent with their sensibility and open to discovering new artists.

Blacklight is, in essence, a gallery that believes in figuration as a living language: capable of engaging in dialogue with the present, crossing borders and continuing to find new ways of looking.
