Carlos Maiques (Valencia, 1971) is a visual artist and graphic novelist whose practice sits at the intersection of drawing, narrative and contemporary visual culture. Holding a degree in Fine Arts from the Universitat Politècnica de València, his work reflects a solid grounding in both traditional techniques and the conceptual development of storytelling.
Throughout his career, Maiques has broadened his artistic perspective through grants and residencies in England, France and Guatemala — experiences that feed the subtle tension between the intimate and the universal present in his work. His projects have been exhibited at leading contemporary art spaces including Galería Luis Adelantado and Espai Visor, placing his practice within both the exhibition circuit and independent publishing.
As an author, he has published with prestigious houses including Sinsentido, Astiberri, Edicions de Ponent, Coco Press, Dolmen Editorial, Ediciones Valientes, La Documental Edicions and the IVAM, consolidating a distinct voice within the field of graphic narrative. Maiques also collaborates with the cultural association Fantastik Lab, extending his involvement in experimental and interdisciplinary practices.
For the collector, Maiques offers a singular intersection between contemporary art and graphic narrative — where drawing becomes simultaneously image and story, inviting a sustained and complex reading. A work that rewards those who look slowly.
