Lisa Gingles builds a world of hybrid figures, faceless characters and dreamlike landscapes, drawing on mythology, folklore, travel and memory. Working across drawing, collage and sculpture, she gives shape to beings that seem to have stepped out of an old tale, suspended between the human and the animal, the real and the imagined. Born in Northern Ireland in 1974 and based in Valencia since 1998, she brings a distinctly personal sensibility to a visual language built on the strange and the tender.

A Lesson on Letting Go enclosed within its wooden box, is a quiet, contained meditation on release. Modelled in polymer clay and finished in acrylic, the piece carries the intimacy of an object made to be held rather than simply viewed, its small scale asking for a closer, slower kind of attention. It is a work about impermanence handled with great care, where fragility becomes the very subject of the piece.
