Lisa Gingles works across drawing, collage and sculpture, giving form to animal and hybrid figures drawn from mythology, folklore, travel and memory, constructing a territory where the human and the fantastical coexist.
Doble Lucha combines pastel drawing and acrylic paint directly onto the cover of an old, found book, layering Gingles’ hand-drawn imagery onto an object already carrying its own history.
To collect Doble Lucha is to bring home a piece built on a genuinely found object, where drawing, paint and a book’s own worn cover come together as a single, unrepeatable surface.
