Philip Bosmans (b. 1980, Bree, Belgium) is a self-taught painter and former graffiti artist, formally trained in graphic design, now based in Hasselt. He builds his paintings the way he once built street pieces — starting from a striking image, developing it as a digital collage, then translating it into oil and acrylic on canvas — populating his work with masked, anonymized figures and animals that speak to introspection, freedom and dream. Working in a lineage that echoes fellow Belgian surrealists René Magritte and Paul Delvaux, his paintings have been shown internationally at galleries including Vertical Gallery (Chicago), SPACE Gallery (Denmark), ArchEnemy Gallery (Philadelphia) and 19 Karen Gallery (Australia).
To collect Duality is to own a unique 2025 painting from a Belgian artist whose self-taught technical mastery and street-honed visual language place him in dialogue with his country’s great surrealist tradition — a singular work whose small, deliberate anomalies leave room for each collector’s own interpretation.
