GINGLES & GINGLES: CONVERSATIONS

Conversations accompanies the exhibition of the same name presented by Blacklight Art Gallery, bringing together the work of Graham Gingles and Lisa Gingles — father and daughter, two generations united by a shared fascination with the strange, the symbolic, and everything hidden beneath the surface of things.

Through painting, drawing, collage and sculpture, Graham and Lisa build, from different visual languages, worlds populated by hybrid creatures, masks and dreamlike landscapes suspended between the human and the fantastical. Graham’s boxed universes, in which objects and sculptures become small narrative theatres, find an echo in Lisa’s faceless figures and hybrid beings, drawing on mythology, folklore and memory.

The catalogue offers a visual and reflective journey through this artistic and family conversation — an inheritance understood not as transmission but as an ongoing dialogue, in which images pass from one generation to another, transform, and find new ways to exist.
