Lisa Gingles works across drawing, collage and sculpture, giving form to animal and hybrid figures drawn from mythology, folklore, travel and memory, constructing a territory where the human and the fantastical coexist.
The Listener is a pastel drawing depicting a humanoid face fitted with large rabbit ears, rendered with the soft, layered texture characteristic of the medium. The oversized ears dominate the composition, giving the figure its title and its quiet, attentive presence.
