Lisa Gingles works across drawing, collage and sculpture, giving form to animal and hybrid figures drawn from mythology, folklore, travel and memory. Alongside her larger enclosed works, she also makes smaller standalone cast pieces exploring texture and surface.
Continuing the same minimal series as Rusted Pig and Oxidized Pig, Oxidized Rabbit is a small cast plaster figure finished to resemble weathered, oxidised metal. Compact and unadorned, it favours texture and finish over narrative staging, presenting the animal form on its own rather than within an enclosed setting.
To collect Oxidized Rabbit is to own another small, tactile piece from this minimal cast series within Gingles’ wider body of work. It is a piece from an artist whose hybrid, folklore-rooted figures continue to gain growing international recognition.
