Laura Pérez Granel is a Spanish illustrator and comics artist born in Valencia in 1983. Trained in Fine Arts in Spain, France, and Canada — at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Carlos de Valencia, the École Régionale des Beaux-Arts de Rennes, and the Alberta College of Art and Design — she has built a practice that moves fluidly between editorial illustration, graphic novels, and animation.
Her work has appeared in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, National Geographic, Vanity Fair, and El País, among others, as well as for institutions such as the World Health Organization. As a graphic novelist, she is the author of Ocultos (2019), winner of the Premio El Ojo Crítico de Cómic; Tótem (2021), winner of the Premio Lorna al mejor cómic nacional; Espanto (2022); and Nocturnos (2024), her most recent work and winner of the Premio Antifaz at the Salón del Cómic de Valencia 2025. In 2022, she received an Emmy nomination for the opening titles of Only Murders in the Building (Disney+).
For collectors, Laura Pérez Granel represents one of the most distinctive and internationally recognised voices in contemporary Spanish illustration and comics. Her original works carry the same atmosphere and precision as her published pages — intimate, atmospheric, and charged with a visual language entirely her own. To collect an original by Laura Pérez Granel is to hold a fragment of a world that exists between waking and dreaming, drawn by one of the most compelling artists working in Europe today.
