In News of the Day (2023), Isaac Cordal turns his signature miniature figures — usually cast in concrete and embedded into city streets — toward a different kind of landscape: the endless stream of headlines that shapes daily life. Rendered in resin, glass, and wood at an intimate scale (31.5 x 13 x 7 cm), the piece distills Cordal’s ongoing meditation on how the modern citizen is quietly absorbed into the systems that surround them, this time under the constant weight of media saturation.

Known internationally for his “Cement Eclipses” — small suited figures left to weather in urban environments — Cordal uses scale and material to unsettle: bodies rendered fragile, anonymous, almost architectural, standing in for a society increasingly shaped by the news cycle rather than by direct experience.
