Xevi Vilaró: Catalan Artist Combining Realism, Magic, and Social Critique

Xevi Vilaró (Girona, 1975) is driven by three passions: motorcycles, paragliding, and painting. A self-taught contemporary Catalan artist, Vilaró has achieved international recognition for his unique artistic style.

A Distinctive Artistic Style: Realism with a Magical Edge

Vilaró’s work is deeply rooted in realism, yet imbued with a magical and illusory quality that sets it apart. Using the oil on methacrylate technique, he creates a distinctive finish that brings his social critique to life. His work leaves a lasting impression due to its clean and concise aesthetic, as well as its critical discourse on the issues surrounding modern society.

Pop Music and Social Justice: Themes in Vilaró’s Paintings

Through his paintings, Vilaró explores society’s most pressing problems, referencing the world of pop music as a vehicle for social commentary. His works highlight the injustices and upheavals that stem from an increasingly sick society. Vilaró’s artwork serves as both a reflection of contemporary struggles and a call to action.

Vilaró’s love for art and nature converge to create a combative mythology in his paintings, speaking volumes beyond the methacrylate on which they are rendered.
