Luciano Sanchez: A Spanish Artist Inspired by Pop Surrealism
My name is Luciano Sanchez, and I was born in the late 70s in Granada, Spain. I graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Granada.
Artistic Influences: Lowbrow Art and Pop Surrealism
My work is mainly influenced by an artistic movement that emerged in the late 1970s in California, known as Lowbrow Art or Pop Surrealism. This movement became a field of creation where the main characters are elements of popular culture, underground comics, kustom kulture, and pop culture, among others.
A Blend of Pessimism and Post-Apocalyptic Themes
All of these influences are always mixed with a dose of pessimism and post-apocalyptic connotations, forming the foundation of my inner world. My artwork reflects these influences, portraying a longing for the past through nostalgic references to the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
The Evolution of Urban Art in My Work
Lately, the concept of urban art has become a fundamental element in my production. The raw energy of graffiti, the noise of the streets, and the dirt have all crept into my imagery, further shaping my unique artistic perspective.
